At
BAT Phanuel was introduced to drawing, painting,
print making, sculpture and art theory. During that
time his work formed part of Young Artists' Graphics
and biannual Zimbabwe National Heritage exhibitions
at the Delta, Verandah and Innerspace galleries
and at the National Gallery in Zimbabwe, as well
as in South African galleries.
In 1998 he won an Award of Merit at the Zimbabwe
National Heritage Exhibition. In 2000 his work was
sent to group exhibitions in Holland, Sweden, Germany
(Munich) and the USA (Atlanta).
During 2001 Phanuel became a regular exhibitor at
the African Easel Art Gallery in Kasane, Botswana,
and as a result of his exposure there was invited
to the Black Mamba Gallery in Vaalwater, South Africa.
His mixed media rural scenes capture 'the African
way' in a unique fashion and his work is a mirror
of the unsung aspects of country life.
