Vic Guhrs

Vic Guhrs is widely recognised as one of Africa’s leading wildlife artists. Born in Germany, he came to Africa at an early age and was immediately fascinated by the continent's wild animals and wild places. After studying art in Johannesburg, he moved to Zambia and lived in the Luangwa Valley, one of the foremost game areas in Africa.

Unlike most of his contemporaries who work in the comfort of their city studios, Vic Guhrs works in close proximity to his subjects, which has enabled him to gain insight into nature's rhythms and cycles.

His distinctive style - concentrating on essential elements while leaving out superfluous detail – has won him an international following and his paintings hang in numerous collections in Africa and abroad. Through the donation and sale of his works he has raised much-needed funds to help conservation efforts in order to protect and preserve our last remaining wilderness areas.
